Many of us look on London Collections Men with an air of detached admiration. How is it that these men and women look so effortlessly put together? This time around we decided to delve straight into the heart of LCM with a little help from a few fashion insiders. We partnered with the team at Esquire for a bit of a Smythson takeover meets insider guide…
Teo Van Den Broeke, Style Director
Favourite show…Craig Green was absolutely beautiful and feels increasingly accomplished, but personally (in terms of the stuff I would actually like to wear) I think my favourite was Casely Hayford – the perfect mix of fashion forward pieces and beautiful tailoring. Margaret Howell was also particularly good.
One to Watch…Grace Wales Bonner for sure. She’s just won the LVMH prize and her clothes are beautiful.
Most memorable moment…My most memorable moment was probably the Coach dinner at J Sheekey on Monday, primarily because it was so much fun!
Best after party…I’ve kind of answered this above (because it was naughty and small), but the one for the boys ball at the V&A was really good fun, Tinie Tempah and Kylie performed.
Top LCM tip…Buy a field or safari jacket, ideally in suede. Oh, and backpacks are, well, back.
Favourite Trend…The Boy Scout trend. It’s all about high function pieces in luxury fabrics. It’s great when clothes both look good and work hard!

Catherine Hayward, Fashion Director
Favourite show…Craig Green – for fully cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting creatives at LCM.
One To Watch…Grace Wales Bonner – for taking the brave step to move away from the security of the MAN collective and present a small salon show.
Memorable moment…Witnessing thousands of naked cyclists riding outside the LCM venue at 180 The Strand on Saturday afternoon.
After Party…Celebrity Karaoke Evening at Abbey Road studios in aid of mens cancer charity One 4 The Boys…and watching Esquire’s Editor Alex Bilmes killing it with Robbie Williams’ Angels.
Best LCM tip…Always carry a mobile phone charger and an umbrella. (And a Smythson pochette)
Favourite trend…There are no trends at LCM: its eclectic, individual and original.

Charlie Teasdale, Deputy Style Editor
Favourite show…Margaret Howell – I always love it, but this year it felt even more considered. An exercise in pared-back nerdy elegance.
One to Watch…Liam Hodges – Loved the patchwork-y nature of all the looks, and particularly enjoyed his use of Timberland boots.
Most memorable moment…The naked cyclists – nothing stirs the soul like an army of naked people on bicycles.
Best after party…I would say Tiger of Sweden at the London Edition, but England drew the football so the vibe was ruined. The One for the Boys ball at the V&A was pretty special too.
Top LCM tip…Sunglasses, even when it’s raining. They hide all manner of fatigue.
Favourite Trend…Pops of colour. I’m partial to a shrewd use of orange.
